Express Scripts is the Cigna-owned PBM that administers the TRICARE benefit on behalf of the Department of Defense. Recently, Express Scripts instituted pharmacy network changes that impact 400,000 Tricare beneficiaries by shrinking the retail network by almost 15,000 pharmacies.

The terms of the new contracts were simply unworkable for most.

In addition, Express Scripts then abruptly terminated the 2022 contracts Oct. 24. We have engaged with the Department of Defense and our congressional delegation on this issue, and encourage you to as well. All of South Dakota's members of Congress signed a letter asking the Department of Defense for answers to key questions on this matter. 

NEW! The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) is collecting stories from Tricare beneficiaries on any problems they have had obtaining medications after Express Scripts instituted pharmacy network changes that led to a limited number of pharmacies remaining in the network. The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) created a flyer and QR code to MOAA’s portal, which can be used to encourage Tricare patients to quickly and easily share their experiences.
